The civil lawsuit between the Central Texas Groundwater Conservation District and the Deer Springs and Cody Lewis appears to have reached an end point.

The settlement calls for Deer Springs and Lewis to pay the district more than $20,000 no later than 5 p.m. Dec. 8.

If the agreed-upon payment is not forwarded on time, the settlement will be revoked and a hearing on the matter may be heard 1:30 p.m. Dec. 9 in the 33rd District Court in Burnet before Judge J. Alan Garrett.

“It (the court hearing) won’t be necessary if payment is made,” Sodek said.

Last year, the company reported to district

8.24 acre feet of groundwater above the 24.5 acre feet permitted annually by the district.

Despite “repeated attempts” to bring the company into compliance,

claimed the company continued to violate water production rules.
