Community Recycling Centre - Lake Macquarie City Council

Collection of household paint, oils and aerosols from the Lake Macquarie Community Recycling Centre has been temporarily impacted. The temporary impact to operations is due to a fire at the chemical storage facility in Sydney where the problem wastes are transferred for safe treatment and recovery. While this issue is being resolved, the collection contractor – engaged by the NSW Environment Protection Authority – is unable to attend the CRC to pick up paint, oils and aerosols. At this stage we are not able to accept any paint, oils and aerosols. Other problem waste items can still be dropped off. Customers are asked to safely store their paint, oils and aerosols until the CRC can return to normal operations. Please visit this page for updates.

The Community Recycling Centre, located at the Awaba Waste Management Facility, is a safe way to dispose of household waste, free of charge.

The following items are currently accepted in household quantities:

Please wear enclosed shoes when visiting the facility.

The Community Recycling Centre is a NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative, funded by the Waste Levy.
